This 1960s Gordon’s gin Christmas advert places a bottle and glass over an old English etching. A red ribbon and mistletoe bring colour to the scene, while the headline links the drink with an old English holiday greeting.

The caption dates the background etching to around 1780. Its finely drawn figures sit behind the colourful bottle and ribbon, bringing together a historical scene and a seasonal gift message.
